Leonardo DiCaprio as J. Edgar Hoover

The story of one of the most legendary figures of law enforcement—and the face of the Federal Bureau of Investigation for much of the twentieth century—comes to the big screen like never before. The life of former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover hits cinemas this November in J. Edgar. Directed by Clint Eastwood, the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as J. Edgar Hoover.

The film’s trailer promises an incredible blend of historical drama, suspense, action, emotion, and mystery. I am very excited to see this film. Biographical films are always inspiring; they bring the trials and triumphs of the past into our present era and help us understand where we came from. I have high expectations for J. Edgar.

Based on the trailer, the film appears to cover the entirety of J. Edgar Hoover’s career in the FBI—from the bootlegging days of the 1920’s to the national traumas of the Vietnam era. Hoover’s professional successes as well as his personal tribulations will be covered in the film. J. Edgar also stars Armie Hammer, Naomi Watts, and Jeffrey Donovan, among others. Again, the title role is played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who is widely-known for his starring roles in epic films such as Titanic and Inception. DiCaprio delivers a truly inspiring performance in his depiction of Hoover. J. Edgar may very well be DiCaprio’s best film yet. Based on the trailer alone, J. Edgar appears to be a truly spectacular film.
